WHAT TO DO: Whether it’s climbing up a waterfall or touring a rum factory, Jamaica has enough tours to keep every type of tourist happy. Some of the more popular active tours include hiking up Dunn’s River Falls near Ochos Rios, zip lining through the forest in Ochos Rios or Montego Bay, ocean horse back riding, and guided ATV trips. For the less athletically inclined, a trip to Jamaica may include a factory tour of the Appleton Rum facility, the Zion bus tour, or a tour of a German-style village. Whatever your style, we can help you book all the tours you desire before you arrive at a resort.Jamaica is also known for its happening nightlife. A number of the resorts offer their own discos and beach parties but if you go into town you’ll find many great places for nightlife in Montego Bay, Ochos Rios, Negril, and Kingston. The home of Bob Marley is naturally known for its reggae clubs, but these days dancehall style music is even more popular and can be heard in clubs around the island. The “hip strip” in Montego Bay is especially popular amongst tourists in the area for its shopping, bars, and nightclubs. The popular chain of Jimmy Buffet restaurants known as Margaritaville are located in Montego Bay, Ochos Rios, and Negril and offer up activities such as foam parties and a waterslide into the ocean. Water sports are also popular in Jamaica. Most water sport offerings are available through the all-inclusive resorts and those not staying in all-inclusive or are on cruises may purchase day passes to the resorts for access to these programs. Snorkeling and SCUBA are popular and best experienced off the coast of Negril, although beginners and intermediate divers will probably still enjoy diving off the northern coast as well. Hobie cats, parasailing, kayaking, sailing, glass bottom boating, and tubing are just a few of water sports that visitors to Jamaica can expect to experience.
WHERE TO STAY: All-inclusive resorts are very popular in Jamaica and come in all shapes and sizes. Many of the resorts on Jamaica are adults-only and range from clothing-optional at the Hedonism properties to luxury oriented such as the Grand Lido Braco. For couples who want to exclusively travel with other couples, couples-only resorts including seven Sandals properties and four Couples properties are available throughout the island. Have a family? Properties such as the Holiday Inn Sunspree and three different Beaches will allow the whole family to enjoy the island. A number of non all-inclusive resorts are also available including private villas, inns, and bed and breakfasts. Finally, most cruises with ports in the western Caribbean include ports of call in Ochos Rios and Montego Bay.
WEDDING INFORMATION Marriage licenses clear in one day and do not require blood tests. 50% of all marriages performed in Jamaica are destination weddings and there are 150 options for resort based wedding packages. Many of these options offer free wedding packages with a certain length honeymoon stay. Options for types of ceremony are dependent on location of ceremony.
